The VMDC ARTS LEADERSHIP Afterschool program mission is to offer a safe and nurturing environment for youth by providing activities, which enhance their social and emotional development, academic and performing arts skills. Youth are exposed to a wide variety of activities, which encourage them to pursue higher education, which will increase employability and promote community stability.
VMDC has a proven track record of implementing structured ARTS LEADERSHIP programs, which provide youth in underserved communities with a pathway to success. As a result of our tutelage participants are accepted into specialized gifted programs such as, prep for prep, breakthrough and a better chance. Participants have also been prepared for auditions and accepted into arts based programs and schools such as, Philippa Schuyler Middle, Myer Levin Intermediate School, Brooklyn Academy School of the Arts High School, LaGuardia High School, and Dance Wave Performing Arts program to name a few.
VMDC provides instruction in performing arts, marching band, as well as Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M), project based curriculum and homework help.
As well as provides structured activities to include, leadership, literacy, educational field trips and workshops.
